Miguel Bermejo

Miguel Bermejo is a founder and Managing Partner of Atlantico Capital. He has more than 20 years of experience in transactions, focused on M&A, structured finance, and project finance both as investment banker and advisor as well as an executive. Due to his experience, he has deep knowledge of the infrastructure and energy sectors. Mr. Bermejo has been involved in deals in many international countries, including the US, Canada, Latin America, Europe and North Africa.

Mr. Bermejo has been involved in corporate and structured finance transactions in excess of US$ 22 billion, including mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, restructurings, capital markets as well as very large and complex project and structured finance deals.

Prior to joining Atlantico Capital he was Chief Financial Officer for the Americas and Head of Special Projects for the listed European conglomerate FCC Group. Before joining FCC Group, he worked as senior executive at Alantra, a leading independent M&A and investment banking boutique, and as Senior Manager in PwC.

Mr. Bermejo holds an Executive MBA from ESADE Business School and a Business Administration Degree from the European Business School. He is fluent in English, Spanish and also speaks French.

Fernando Casas

Fernando Casas is a founder and Partner at Atlantico Capital. He is a financial executive with strong corporate leadership, experience in corporate and investment banking, M&A advisory and business development, with an impressive track record in transactions over his more than 20 years career.

Prior to developing Atlantico Capital, Mr. Casas was the Head of Corporate Finance for Citigroup covering Central America and the Caribbean (CCA) from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that he was Head of Corporate Finance in Colombia.

From 1999 to 2005, Mr. Casas worked as Sector Banker for ABN AMRO’s Telecom Media & Technology Business Unit in charge of the Andean Region, based in Bogotá. Prior to working at ABN AMRO, he worked for 2 years at Corfivalle as a Senior Associate in the Investment Banking Unit and before that he was a Financial Analyst at Proquinal where he began his career.

Mr. Casas got a Master’s degree in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Xavier Ruiz

Previous Experience: Holland & Knight / K&L Gates / Garrigues / Baker & McKenzie

Xavier Ruiz is the non-executive Chairman of Atlantico Capital Partners. He is also the founding partner of RC Law LLP, a corporate and finance law boutique. Xavier is qualified to practice in New York (1998) and Spain (1982). Mr. Ruiz advises corporations on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate finance transactions, as well as on privatizations and concessions, with a focus on United States and Latin America. His work in these areas led to his ranking as one of the leading international M&A lawyers by Legal Media Group’s “Expert Guide to the World’s Leading M&A Lawyers” (a Euromoney publication) in both the US and Spain’s chapters, in two consecutive editions (2005 and 2006). More recently, Mr. Ruiz was included in the “Best for Cross-Border M&A” list published by “The Corporate America – Legal Elite 2015”.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Ruiz was a partner of K&L Gates’s New York office (2011-2014) and the U.S. head of Garrigues, Spain’s largest law firm (2005-2011). Previously, Mr. Ruiz was a partner of global law firm Baker & McKenzie, where he developed a 15-year career in Spain (Barcelona), Latin America (Buenos Aires) and the United States (San Francisco, Chicago and New York) thereby gaining a broad international transactional experience.

Mr. Ruiz has also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce in New York (2010-14). He currently holds the position of Vice-Chairman and Chair of Strategic Planning Committee of the Chamber. He is also an officer of Vicente Ferrer Foundation USA, a large non-governmental organization committed to eradicate extreme poverty in India.

Mr. Ruiz graduated from the University of Barcelona, Spain (1982), where he got a Law Degree (“Licenciado en Derecho”) a Master in International and Comparative Law from the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), Cum Laude (1986) and a Master in Laws (LL.M.) with Honors, from the University of California at Berkeley (1987), where he studied with a Fulbright Scholarship.

Ivan Oliveros

Previous Experience: Jefferies / SMBC / BNP Paribas / Scotiabank

Ivan Oliveros is a Partner at Atlántico Capital. He has more than 20 years of experience in banking, complemented by earlier hands-on engineering experience in LatAm. His career has been focused on project finance, M&A, acquisition finance and corporate finance both as investment banker and debt and equity advisor.

Mr. Oliveros has worked in transactions across Latin America, including México, Panama, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay and also in the US across the Power, Natural Resources and Infrastructure sectors. He also lived and worked in Chile, Bolivia, and Peru as an engineer for global engineering consulting firms in different projects across the Oil and Gas, Water and Sanitation, Mining and Power Industries.

Mr. Oliveros has been involved in corporate and structured finance transactions in excess of US$ 20 billion, including debt capital markets, syndicated loans, acquisition financings, project bonds and private placements, mergers and acquisitions, as well as very large and complex project and structured finance deals.

Prior to joining Atlántico Capital, he was a Managing Director at Jefferies Power and Utilities Investment Banking team based in New York and was Head of Power and Renewables LatAm for SMBC. Earlier in his career he worked for BNP Paribas LatAm Project Finance team and ScotiaBank´s US Power and Utilities group. During his earlier engineering career he worked for Golder Associates, Knight Piésold and Dames & More (now AECOM).

Ivan Oliveros holds an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York and an Industrial and Environmental Engineering Degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He also completed all coursework for a MS (thesis pending) in Earth Resources and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University. Mr. Oliveros is Bilingual Spanish (Native) and English and has conversational level of Portuguese.

Nathaniel Felton

Nathaniel Felton is a Vice President at Atlantico Capital. He has 10+ years experience in the investment banking sector.

Prior to joining Atlantico Capital in 2015, he worked as an investment-banking associate at INTL FCStone securities Inc. (“INTL”), based in Miami as part of the project finance unit. Prior to INTL, he was an associate at Morgan Stanley Private Global Wealth Management based in New York, and was a credit analyst at Dexia Asset Management based in Paris, France.

Nathaniel holds a BA in Business Administration from the American University of Paris and, holds a Masters of Science in Finance from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and French.

Juan Pablo Hernandez

(Vice-president) – Mexico City

10+ years in the investment banking sector, M&A and project finance type of transactions in the infrastructure and energy sectors. Previously, he worked in Astris Finance Mexico (CDMX: 2013-2019) and Astris Finance (Washington D.C. 2019-2023).

In the last 5 years, Juan Pablo has participated in multiple successful transactions in the energy sector in Chile. The financing of a PMGD PV-platform of over 70 MW, refinanced 2 utility-scale projects (1 solar – 1 wind), and the acquisition of a renewable portfolio.

Holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico.

Marcos Martinez

Marcos Martinez is a Vice President at Atlantico Capital. He has 10+ years experience in the investment banking sector.

Before joining Atlantico Capital in 2015, he worked as a Financial Analyst at the Structured Trade and Export Finance Department of Santander Bank.

Marcos is a CFA® Charterholder. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Business Administration from Menendez Pelayo International University and a Master’s Degree in Business Strategy from Francisco de Vitoria University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Francisco de Vitoria University. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Miguel Lorrio

(Partner) – Madrid / Mexico

Miguel Lorrio is a seasoned banker and trusted advisor with 25+ years of experience in Europe, the US and Latam, having advised in more than US$ 75 Bn worth of transactions.

Mr. Lorrio has worked in (i) investment banking (including Santander, UBS, BoA Merril Lynch, Barclays Capital), (ii) in the buy side (special situations fund in London and private credit in Mexico) and (iii) as CFO and Chief Strategic Officer on the corporate side.

He holds an MSc in Finance from London Business School, an executive MBA from Columbia Business School, an executive L.L.M. from Northwestern Pritzker Law School and a global executive master in digital business from ISDI.

Mr. Lorrio is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and was a recipient of full scholarships from La Caixa-British Council as well as Caja Madrid.

Juan Francisco Toro

Senior Advisor

20+ years of experience in infra and energy finance in Latin America. Formerly with Dexia / Astris Finance (Head of Mexico Project Finance) and Lloyds TSB Bank.

Led the execution of complex financial transactions totaling USD 7+ Bn, including landmark projects like Ferrocen in Uruguay, Transantiago in Chile, and Line 2 Metro de Lima.

Juan Francisco has a Master’s degree with a specialization in International Finance and Energy from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from Universidad EAFIT in Colombia
